E-Link Americas selects Nera SatLink equipment for its satellite broadband Internet service in Latin America and the Caribbean

Ottawa, Canada - October 20, 2005 - E-Link Americas, a not for profit corporation established to promote connectivity for social and economic development in Latin America and the Caribbean has selected Nera to supply broadband satellite equipment.

The Nera SatLink 1000 and 1910 broadband satellite terminals will provide connectivity for a variety of broadband services. "E-Link Americas built its network on the only true open two-way satellite standard, DVB-RCS, for cost effectiveness and in order to choose freely between multiple vendors" explains Andrew Carnegie, Chief Technology Officer at E-Link Americas. "The Nera SatLink passed all compatibility testing with our existing hub equipment with flying colours." The Nera SatLink portfolio was the first to receive the official interoperability certification from SatLabs, this last September.

"The Nera SatLink 1000 and 1910 end user terminals deliver definite advantages. Both are compact and relatively light, a plus when shipping to the region and for transport to customer sites located in remote and difficult to reach areas" continues Carnegie.

The remote management capabilities of the Nera SatLink equipment will help E-Link Americas and its local service partners (LSPs) lower their costs, savings that can be passed on to customers.
